A History of the Jetty Hut

Introduction

Glenfinnan villagers are an inventive bunch. They have always managed to find, or create, a shared space for meetings, events and social gatherings. From the local hotel bars, to the kitchen tables of a few well known residents, and all points in-between.

The ploys and antics are the stuff of legend, but the need for a permanent shared space that the community could call its own had remained stubbornly elusive; a topic of resigned discussion and a recurring agenda item at Glenfinnan Community Council (GCC) meetings for many years. The barriers were always a shortage of funds and a lack of suitable premises.

This is the story of how the village finally got what it wanted.
