Glenfinnan Community Facilities SCIO is a charity established in 2018 to advance citizenship and community development for Glenfinnan area residents. SCIO is short for “Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation”, which is just the legally correct designation of this type of organisation.
Glenfinnan Community Facilities (SCIO) was established by Glenfinnan Community Council on advice from Highland Council that a separate charitable organization is the more legally appropriate structure to hold leases and to apply for funding.
However, all projects undertaken by GCF are based on needs expressed by the community, and are community led. So, by definition, should always be consistent with the aims of Glenfinnan Community Council.
