In January 2017, it was reported that a sub-lease had been drafted.
On 12 February 2017 an open meeting was held at Glenfinnan House Hotel to discuss the Community Facility proposal and gauge village opinion. The meeting was generally positive but concerns were raised about ongoing commitment and “commercial” usage.
At the March 2017 council meeting, it was proposed to address the concerns raised by conducting a village questionnaire and skills audit, to further research the demand for, and usage of, such a facility.
The questionnaire was drafted in November 2017 and the survey conducted in December 2017.
Feedback was gathered using both online and paper questionnaires. There were a total of 49 responses, 22 online and 17 collected from boxes in the village.
Out of the 49 survey responses, 46 (94%) were supportive. Multiple uses were suggested, with the most popular being music, fundraisers and quizzes, followed by film nights, parties and children’s activities. Around 60% of respondents were willing to give practical help to the project.
